The Very Black Project is a partnership developed in 2014 by Justin Fulton (graphic designer) and André D. Singleton (artist-educator). Kindred souls, we first joined forces in 2006 while studying at opposite ends of The New School, connecting through our love of music, felt micro-aggressions, and the deep need to create. Years later it was our 'kitchen talks' that sparked the making of the original classic tee, birthing the Very Black trademark. Part concept shop and part resistance, the aim of The Very Black Project remains to encourage unapologetic self-love while fostering meaningful dialogues surrounding black autonomy and community building through artful collaborations. We operate right out of our home in Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn.
How long do orders take to ship?
Once an order is placed it's typically processed within 3-5 business days unless noted otherwise in a product's description. Once in transit, local NY-bound parcels take 1-business day, while all other domestic orders can take up to 2-3 business days to arrive. International parcels may take 1-2 weeks to arrive. We do put a lot of love into each package and your patience is appreciated.
Can I make a return or exchange?
Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org before shipping anything back. All orders in original condition are eligible for return or exchange (pending availability) within 14 days of delivery. If we made an error, we'll be more than happy to email you a return label. Unfortunately, we are not responsible for lost or stolen packages.
Do you accept wholesale orders?
Email us at email@example.com to inquire. Our line sheets also feature past merchandise not listed online. We enjoy building ties with shops whose values are aligned with our own. We are currently stocked at MoCADA (Brooklyn), Nubian Hueman (DC), and The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture (NYC).
